it was the night gales
swept vessels farther north, and
cobalts swooped, circled

infinity; the
jades, the malachites rose from
bottomless seas; they

raged, they dug their talons
into the aquas, in-
to teals and salts; yes,

it was the night we
scrambled out our windows, crouched
upon rooftops to

gaze at those blues tower
and helm the skies, greater
than life, greater than

the living, to wage
their wars on us all, on muds,
sands, winds, our earth, that

no longer sings or
dances to melodies of
the sun anymore
